Everything had pretty much gone to hell.
Not literally, Ruby would know - in fact, if you wanted to get technical it was kind of the exact opposite, and yet somehow just as horrible for everyone involved. But...particularly the Winchesters. Because while everyone else on the planet had to worry about their power-crazed new 'God', and the heroic forces of the world were even focused on stopping him, it was Sam and Dean who had suffered the most. Every day's increasingly horrific events was a reminder of the friend they'd lost, and what he'd become. For once, Ruby felt entirely useless. There was nothing she could do to help, and she hated it. Castiel's betrayal had hit Dean the hardest - he'd all but completely emotionally withdrawn from everyone. She suspected the only reason he hadn't left them was because he was currently so hell-bent on stopping the monster their former angel friend had become. And the more Dean suffered, the more anguish was inflicted on Sam. Ruby...she didn't want to watch him lose his brother again, not right after he'd lost one of his closest friends. She couldn't.
So, for what was probably the first time in history, a demon was taking it upon herself to piece the Winchester brothers back together.
It was the least she could do, she figured. No matter how far she'd come, no matter how much Sam trusted her now, she could never forget what she was and the danger it posed to everyone. By her very nature, she was evil - but maybe, if an angel could consume thousands of souls, go against God, and become the world's current Public Enemy Number One, then a demon could manage to do a bit of good and save the people she cared about. The trouble was, she...wasn't entirely sure how to go about doing that. The solution here was pretty clear: somehow, Castiel had to be fixed. She wasn't sure if there was a way to reverse the damage that had been done, but if there was, he was probably the only one capable of doing it. So that meant slapping some sense into him and trying to talk him out of his current insanity. Sam and Dean had already tried that, but...well. Ruby was perfectly willing to give them credit where it was due, and they could accomplish a lot when the stakes were high, but they just weren't entirely capable of the to-the-point, blunt, sass it took to talk some sense into a person - at least, not when that person was their friend.
So she was...at least going to give this a shot. And there was always the chance that Cas wouldn't show up at all, or would just casually smite her on the spot if he did. But for even the slightest chance to repair the dysfunctional friendship they'd all once had, it was worth it. She'd slipped away from the Winchesters in the middle of the night and had broken into an empty hotel room, not really keen on going through the process of renting one just for a short meeting. Stocking up on everything that could possibly repel a cracked-out angel had seemed like a good idea (even if it would only buy her a few seconds, that could mean the difference between life and death if something went wrong), so Ruby had taken as many precautions as she could. And now, there could be no more stalling. It'd be like...ripping a bandaid off; she just had to do it, and wait for the results. "Cas," she called, a bit uncertainly - and then rolled her eyes. She felt stupid already. "Castiel, I know you can hear me. Can you give me just a second of your precious, angel-God time?"
And...now she could only wait to see if he'd show himself. No way any of this could possible go wrong.

It wasn't often that you found a demon calling upon God. In fact, no demon would dare to summon a being as holy and powerful as God... particularly since demons knew of their lowly position. However, on that day a demon had decided to call him. The demon in question was Ruby, one Castiel was familiar with. She had communicated with the Winchesters beforehand. She was an ally of the brothers who he had once called friends... the brothers who had refused to bow before their new God. What she would request of him, he had no idea. Perhaps she would want to convince him to return to his previous state, as bother Winchester brothers already had. It was truly a laughable concept. How could one demand God to rid himself of power? Certainly, this lowly demon didn't think she would be capable of doing it.
With the light sound of rustling wings, Castiel appeared behind Ruby. "A demon, daring to call upon He who despises you most." Castiel said, a slightly mocking tint to his normally blank voice. Demons were such lowly creatures, at their core. He needed to mock them, if only to avoid smiting them where they stood. They were created as a perversion to creation... something intended to mock him. Of course, this made him incredibly angry... however, this demon wanted to speak with him. It wasn't like him to not hear out the needs of all things in creation, even such wretched creatures as demons. So, he needed to wait for a moment... listen to this demon's pleas. Perhaps they would be relevant to his interests.
"Well, then... I am listening. Speak." Castiel said, staring at Ruby boredly. Dealing with a demon's prayers was not something he was particularly interested in doing. However, this demon's connection to the Winchesters was... something he could use. Perhaps he could use this demon to force the Winchesters into seeing this his way. He would like to speak with them again....
