Basic Details
Age: 30ish.
Species: Human.
Physical Appearance: {Keep if you don't have a picture and fill that shiz out!, optional to get rid of all together if you have a picture}
Personality:
Justine is a woman who conducts herself with the utmost propriety expected of aristocracy - she is a proud woman, and one who views social status with relative importance. Never the less, she is at all times outwardly polite, engaging, and charming, a woman who never shys away from socialization and often strikes many people as being friendly and easy-going. She is well-spoken and witty, and undeniably intelligent - in her time, quite a few marveled at her intellectual brilliance. One visible flaw in her outward personality is that she is somewhat vain - actually nearly obsessed with vanity, if one were to push that issue far enough. However, her charismatic pull has a way of capturing attention, for she is truly a lady who conducts herself with poise and elegance - most no one would ever suspect her of being the monster that she truly is.
For while no one has ever managed to diagnose her as such, Justine is what most psychological experts would consider to be a sociopath. It is very difficult to rattle her emotionally; for she simply has a very limited emotional rage to rattle. She views the people around her as little more than toys to be manipulated, and seems to find concepts of love and affection both amusing and entirely unimportant. She has a long track record of disposing of the people closest to her, in most cases simply because they began to bore her after awhile. And most notably, she feels little to no remorse for the horrific things she puts people through. As an aristocrat, Justine displays a sense of superiority in believing herself to be "above" the law, having once stated that laws are for "cretins", and that the upper class is "always right". She seems to get a sadistic sense of enjoyment out of causing others pain, both physically and emotionally - and yet, she has displayed curiously masochistic tendencies as well. She seems to find fascination in finding ways to terrorize herself as much as she does anyone else, taking a specific interest in human nature and the sensation of fear inflicted upon herself.
For despite her sociopathic tendencies, Justine is a brilliant thinker and is fascinated by the human mind and how it works - and even by the emotions that she seems to be missing out on. Some of her work in the field of psychology could be considered downright ground-breaking, at least for the time in which she lived - although she most certainly shattered most standards of morality to pieces in order to achieve this. There isn't much Justine wouldn't do to discover something she wishes to know, particularly about how something works or how someone thinks.
..Still, it is interesting to note that when she induced a sort of amnesia upon herself, creating something of a 'blank slate' in her memory but leaving the rest of her mind intact, she displayed qualities such as empathy and horror at the suffering of others, and a great deal of courage in her efforts to save them. Which brings about the question - is her brutal, sadistic nature truly the result of a mental disorder, or something she experienced in the past? Her core self has proven to be a 'good person', and yet when her memories were restored, she felt little remorse for her previous actions. Justine is, if anything, an interesting specimen at least in regards to the timeless "what makes a monster?" question.
Still, she is a monster - and if she gets her hands on you, she might just turn you into one too...literally. Fortunately she rarely strikes unless she is entirely certain that she has someone completely ensnared, and her recent findings in her psychological study have...changed her views, somewhat. She now knows, because of these studies, that she has the capacity to be a good person - but what she'll do with that knowledge is anyone's guess.

Powers & Abilities
- Crazy like a FOX~ - Justine may be incredibly deranged, but she's also incredibly intelligent - and cunning, to boot. Her intellect borders on genius levels; her logic and reasoning skills considered some of the best. She's always been fond of puzzles of any kind, because she's always been good at solving them - and her knowledge is especially vast in the area of psychology. Justine has spent quite a lot of time studying the human mind - specifically her own. After all, when you're 'crazy' - and yet, insanity happens to fascinate you - who better to use as a lab rat than yourself?
- "Poetry is my forte.." - Justine's always been very invested in the arts. She's quite an accomplished student in the areas of poetry, painting, and music - an artistically gifted woman, you might say.
- "Tell me when it starts to hurt..." - A more morbid skill, Justine has learned quite a bit about pain and how to inflict it upon others. She's both horrifically creative and frightening skilled when it comes to physical torture; probably up there with the best (worst?) 'interrogators' the world unfortunately still holds today. She's also rather resourceful, proving capable on many occasions of turning the most simple object into a torture device...or murder weapon.
- Building mazes, burning bridges - Justine is both what you might consider an 'inventor' and an 'architect'...having actually built in many of the features in her 'Cabinet of Perturbation' - a psychologically horrific series of chambers that once existed beneath her home in France.

History....
Justine was born in France, roughly some time in the late 1820's. Her parents were both of the upper class, although her mother died when Justine was a very young child. Her father, a highly respected doctor who was particularly fascinated by the human mind, saw his daughter as less of a child and more of a tool. He frequently subjected her to psychological tests of his own design which, while not always blatantly harmful, created a rather distant and damaging relationship between the two. What few personal interactions between the two did occur were usually centered around one subject: Justine's late mother. Her father described her as being 'blindingly beautiful', as well as an idol of sorts to which Justine herself could hardly be compared. ..Therefore, what else did she spend most of her childhood doing but trying to wiggle out from under her mother's shadow?
In addition, the strained relationship she had with her father was only made worse by some unclear events - events that might have pointed to abuse or even molestation - that ultimately led to Justine murdering her father with a star-shaped soapstone which she'd stolen from him previously.
Growing up, the only person Justine could really count as a friend was a girl around her age called Clarice, who, being from a lower class than she (which was unapparent to Justine at the time, being as young as she was) eventually became the family's maid. Clarice was the person which Justine spent most of her time with after the death of her father...at least, until she met the first of her suitors, a man named Alois Racine. The two soon became engaged, with Alois being obsessively in love with and blindly devoted to Justine - he seemed to care little for the fact that she rarely showed him much affection, or that she was involved with two other men: a violent and abusive carpenter by the name of Basile Giroux, and the respected and accomplished violinist Malo de Vigny. Justine really saw the three of them as no more than toys, and when she got tired of setting them against each other, she introduced them to a much more gruesome fate: by drugging Basile, getting Malo drunk and ruining his career, and luring a painfully delusional Alois willingly, she entrapped the three of them within the dungeon-like complex beneath her estate. She then proceeded to...blind, torture, and experiment upon her suitors to the point where they'd literally become something that barely resembled human.
The horrific deeds only heightened Alois's obsession, while Basile became enraged and swore revenge, and Malo was driven far into the depths of insanity and cannibalism.
Mostly, Justine managed to avoid suspicion from the people around her, but there were three people who suspected her darker side - Dr. Victor Fournier, who attempted to diagnose her with hysteria; Father David, who openly considered her a 'demon; and Inspector Felix Marot, who became suspicious of and investigated Dr. Fournier's disappearance. Justine abducted and imprisoned the three of them, although she did not subject them to the same tortures she had her suitors - mainly for the reason that she was beginning to regard her past misdeeds not quite with remorse, but with a grim sense of realization. Fully aware of her own insanity and intent on discovering (albeit more out of curiosity than anything) whether or not she had any real 'humanity' left within her, Justine developed a rather...unique psychological test.
Trapping the doctor, the priest, and the inspector in her dungeons (which she'd remodeled and constructed as a series of trials), each in a different location but all trapped under circumstances where they could either be killed or saved, depending on the actions of a third party stumbling across them, Justine perfected her 'Cabinet of Perturbation' by releasing Alois, Basile, and Malo to roam the dungeons freely. She then positioned herself in an isolated chamber and poisoned herself with a potent mixture that affected her mind, causing her to pass out and lose all memory of who she was.
When she awoke, unable to even remember her own name, she was guided only by cryptic, pre-recorded messages she'd left for herself - for example, the first of which being:
'Bienvenue, you are now listening to the sound of my disembodied voice. It will serve you no purpose to look for me, for this is a voice from the past. I bid you welcome to my cabinet of perturbation. It is my study of the human psyche - specifically yours. A set of recordings have been prepared to chaperone you through the chambers ahead. There are a few parts of this study, and it is up to you - not only to pass, but to figure out what elements are important. Please go on, move into the next chamber.
Just remember, they can all be saved. There is always a way.'
Wandering through the dungeons without really knowing what was going on, Justine managed to avoid Alois and Basile and free Dr. Fournier and Father David - but when she got to the final chamber, which was flooded with water, she came upon Inspector Marot. He was restrained out of her reach, and the puzzle in the room , if successfully completed, would only serve to slam the heavy steel door to his cell shut. Moments later, Malo discovered them, and began trying to break into the room. Realizing that she could either spend the time closing the door to the cell so that the Inspector would be protected, or use the time to escape safely and leave the Inspector to die, Justine ended up risking her life to save Marot and only barely escaping herself.when meekz was playing and was given this choice, she was like 'fuck this' and left Inspector Marot to die, but that's irrelevant
