The new pharmaceutical company, Diamond Corp introduces to you our new find that will soon be available around the country to you! With the ability to prevent a range of diseases. Our product will also work to strengthen your immunity and prevent you from further future illness. The world as we know it will be changed…
The world certainly was changed. But not changed for the better of mankind. After giving the proposal for their new drug, Diamond Corp were let down by being told they’d need a stronger collection of research before further investigation could be carried out.
Against all warnings the president of Diamond Corp wanted this product on the market soon even if that meant secret experimentation on human begins. In silence this was carried out with only the knowledge of those high up in the company knowing the complete details.
Money was slyly given out and inmates were received in exchange. The work continued to go unnoticed taking the next vital steps.
The experimentation began; inmates being given various lethal diseases through injection. Everything seemed to be working out with positive results. It was a scientific breakthrough; or so they thought.
23 days after the first treatment was when everything turned in the opposite direction. Other symptoms began to arise in the subjects including alterations of the mind and perspective.
Still, the president demanded the treatment be continued. Many workers took this time to escape, or at least attempt to, because there was no turning back now. The research had gone too far and was taking over. The collection of infected inmates had not only broken out into the city but were found to have adopted a contagious trait.
Many civilians escaped the city but with an almost immediate quarantine being put into place many were still trapped inside with no idea as to what was happening, or more importantly how they would soon have to fight to survive...

PROLOGUE
News of the recent events that had taken place all over New York City had spread like wildfire, every news broadcasting channel across the USA had hourly reports updating the situation.
So far the cause behind these recent civilian attacks are unknown, so many rumours had been circulating but nothing had been confirmed...all that was known was that civilians were attacking one another and killing in cold blood, deeming most of the New Yorkstate a high risk.
Announcements were given and those residing in the city were advised to evacuate if possible whilst those unable to do so were told to stay inside and lock all windows and doors. Previous evacuations had undergone over recent days and quite a lot of the city had been abandoned, left in ruins.
Riley Larsen and his squad had been sent to Queens with the orders of finding and locating all if any survivors before aiding them too there departure point located at the LaGuardia airport where aerial rescue would be provided.
As the Army chopper flew over New York you could see from the windows the devastation of the situation. Vehicles lay abandoned in the street, some on fire, once shops had now became hiding places for cilvilians windows were boarded up. The streets were practically empty..notable disastor had hit but what?
Riley stood holding onto the bar that hung above his head. He gripped it tightly and eyed the rest of his Squad, each member looking as eager as the next, they had no idea what they were getting themselves into.
A voice over could be heard on the radio, it was the Colonel. "When you arrive you will be greeted by a Dr. Felicity Green, she will inform you of the situation on ground level. Once you have landed you will be given a brief and will then depart to the streets..i must warn you to approach survivors with caution, as we have seen not all are willing to co-operate. You must take yourselves and your survivors to the LaGuardia airport by sundown, that gives you less then four hours. If by any chance you are not all there..they WIILL leave without you. One more thing before i go, as i have stated previously, approach the survivors with caution, in means of defence if the situation happens to get out of hand, you shoot on sight.." those were words you rarely heard and when you did youd rather not here, these people were civlians not soldiers, not bad guys, not the enemy..admitedly they werent sure what was going on but surely cold blooded execution wasnt the answer. The team had no say, they were just soldiers..they followed orders.
Felicity stood on the roof by the helipad, patiently awaiting the military advance, her hands cupped around her mouth in anticipantion for what she would have to disclose to the team once they had arrived...
Dr. Green had been shipped in earlier to assess the situation and report back as to whether further military presence was required. Upon landing, She was already too aware that further assistance was imperitive...
Squinting alittle she could see the chopper, sheilding her eyes from the rising sun with her hand, though she didnt feel relieved... As the Chopper Landed safely she stepped forward, walking low even though she knew the blades were way above her head...
As the team began to dismount she looked for the most senior of the team and approached him, "Sergeant Larsen?" she shouted over the noise of the chopper, her english accent cutting through, even through her shouts... When Larsen confirmed his identity, she motioned from him and his team to follow her, "Dr. Green." she introduced herself, still shouting against the propellor noises, "I hope your ready for what your about to see!" she yelled as she brought the team to a pair of white double doors, which she heaved open, to reveal a scene of what one might call, 'controlled chaos' trollies everywhere, blood everywhere, bodies... everywhere... Felicity lead them inside and through to a small office, where they could speak in some form of quiet...
"As you can see, we are in a state of emergency... we are at full capasity with wounded and fatal civilians.. we dont know what or how this has all happened, but the facts are that a group of civilians are attacking and murdering others.." she placed stress on the word 'murdering' as if to drill it into their heads that this was not just a 'rioting incident'
She looked at the military team each in turn as she spoke, "We are at full capacity with wounded and fatal.. " she looked uncomfortable for a moment before continuing, "We were forced to ... place corpses outside, in the need for space... and those things tore them apart..." she glanced out of the window of the office to the ground below.. "I dont know what you will be met with out there, but if those you meet attack you.. do not hesitate to open fire.. they do not respond to threats or reason.." with a tiny sigh she looked directly at the Sergeant, "Sergeant Larsen, it is likely that you will experience casualties out in the field.. I am willing to accompany your team as a Medic if you require.. but if that is all, then we firstly need your blood... if you please.." she motioned to a seat where she wheeled round a blood donor kit to collect blood from each feild operative...
Glau followed behind Green, Larsen and the rest of the squad. He paid a lot of attention to his surroundings, it was a blood bath, being in the army they saw a lot of things but never anything like this.
As he eyed the area he kept his ears open listening to every word Green had said. What she had to say was valuable as she had witnessed the 'riots' at first hand, she knew what to expect and could tell them what to watch for.
Glau followed the others into an office where Green began spilling more information. From what she said this wasnt a basic rioting. As they headed inside Jason was horrified by what he was seeing, bodies..countless bodies about the place, blood everywhere..this was something far worse then he'd expected to see at such a place.
The troops followed Dr. Green into her newly occupied room. Gabe watched as Green informed them they were to give blood. He watched as his fellow team mates began donouring what they could.
Larsen took a seat when Green insructed him to do so. Unzipping his jacket he slid it down allowing her to get to his arm.
"As helpful as that would be Dr. Green, i think it's best if you stay inside, for your own safety..besides these people need your hel..Ow" he winced feeling the prick of the needle.
Larsen turned his attention to his other team mates "We've been given orders to find survivors and get them to safety, we will use this hospital as a safe house, any survivors we find we will bring here, if they need any medical attention we will try to help them as best as we can" he informed them turning back to Green again.
"I know, weve already been given the heads up to open fire, but from what you say, this doesnt sound like a typical riot..have you heard anything whilst being here?" he asked concerned, what were they getting themselves into.
"Dr. Green, if i may..you say that these 'attackers' are tearing the corpses apart? why is that? i mean..what are they doing with..the parts?" Gabe asked, swallowing hard. He hated to think about that.
Glau made his way over to the window he looked beyond the blinds vieiwing the area outside.
There were bodies, body parts..entrails scattered over the road, it was like something from a masacre movie. Biting his lip in thought his attention was drawn to a group of men surrounding a car. A woman trapped inside. Before Anthony could even say anything the men had smashed the window and were now pulling the young woman from her vehicle. Grimacing he watched as one man took a bite out of her.
Still watching what was going on he saw the rest of the men begin biting at her until they were all ontop of her pinning her to the ground "Eating them" he spoke, not realising he had said it alloud.
Letting go of the blinds he glanced over his shoulder met with puzzled looks. Wyler narrowed his eyes at Glau when he mentioned that they were eating body parts "What thehelldid you say?" he questioned with a frown. Ryan moved his way passed the medical supplies joining at Glaus side.
Peeling back the blinds he also caught glmipse of the mass of bodies piled ontop of the poor woman, each one biting at a piece of her "Holy....he's right" he informed the others seeming unordinarily amused by the sight "This is some cannibal holocaust type bull going down" he added with amazed eyes.
Once she finished taking the blood from most of the team, she joined, Wyler and Glau at the window, "Yes.. they seem crazed, all logic and reason is gone and they are left with an increadible... blood or flesh lust.." She then looked over to Sgt. Gabe who had originally posed the question. "As to why this is happening? in short we dont know.. What I need is one captured, or a blood sample that we can test.. I could then find out alot more, it could be a disease, or a poisen contaminent... definately neurological.." she thought out loud, "What we need to find out is whether it is contageous, either through blood, water or any type of food.. any of these could cause the symptoms these people are expressing."
She eyed everyone in the room, "Anymore questions?" she asked. "No no more questions, youve been a big help" Larsen told her with a small smile.
Doing his jacket up he got to his feet looking at the rest of the team "Wyler, Taylor and Gabe..come with me, Kendall, Gamble and Glau i want you to stay here with Dr. Green, help her around, make sure none of those..things get in here, we will do a sweep of the area, see if we can find any civilians who need help.." Riley informed them heading toward the door.
Placing his hand on it he pulled it open "We will meet back here and then figure out the next moves we will take" he finished glancing back at them. Motioning for the others to follow ahead of him he leant holding the door open for them to pass by.
Erin silently gazed out of the window at what was going on outside. It was a horrible sight to see, she had seen some things in her time. People harming others in battle, fire arms, explosives but she had never stood and witnessed someone be savagely attacked and torn apart by there own species.
No one seemed to have any real answers, just presumtions. How could something so big go down and no one know the truth behind it all? someone had answers, they must have..maybe they just didnt wish to share them but Erin hoped that if that was the case, the secret would be revealed within time. Right now all they could do was there job, what they were sents to do..everything else could wait.
Turning on her heel she narrowed her green eyes between Gamble, Glau and Green. Taking a breath in she ran her tongue along her lip turning to the door "I think it would be worth doing a sweep of the wards" she stated looking at her fellow team mates "We might find something useful or something that could help us understand whats going on" Erin set her gun at her side and began for the door. She just didnt wish to wait around, if those things were to get inside..theyd be cornered off in that one room. She wanted to locate all exits..just incase.
"Im gonna help you with that" he said agreeing with Kendalls suggestion to do a sweep of the hospitals, the last thing they wanted was to be locked inside with the infected lurking the corridors. If they were inside they wanted to know there whereabouts.
Gamble headed toward the door with Kendall. Giving a glance back at Glau he nodded and pointed "You stay with the doctor, just incase any of them happen to get inside..we'll be close, you need anything give a shout out" he instructed shortly heading off with Kendall.
As they stepped into the corridor he closed the door behind them "I know that look" he declared as he stepped out beside her.
Narrowing his eyes a little he walked at her side. His rifle held against the left side of his chest "Now Erin i may not be the most observant of guys but i see whats going on in that head of yours, i wouldn't rattle yourself to much, chances are we may never find out what is actually the cause of whatever the hell it is thats going on around here" he explained in a soft tone, he wasnt having a go he was just trying to get her head back on the game.
"And even if we did, thats not your job.." he told her again allowing his eyes to return looking ahead of him "All we should be concerned about is rounding up any survivors and getting to that dock for the arrival of our ticket outta here"
As Kendell and Gamble left she also left the office and walked into the large ward were blood stained nurses were rushing around, frantically trying to save the critically injured. taking a deep breath, Felicity turned to the remaining team, "the only kind of lockdown we managed was baracading the doors below this floor... if you could give us more space by securing the floor below, that would be good... also-" her voice lowered alittle "The doctors and nurses.. I mean look at them.. they need to get cleaned up.. no one can function properly in these conditions.. the showers room is on the floor below.. if we could get access..." she added, "I know its not priority but-.." she didnt finish her sentence.
Glau listened and raised his hand, he spoke up "I got it" he said surely "They'll secure the lower level and ill take you with me" he said splitting the jobs in half that way theyd work quicker. Green turned back to the private and cleared her throat alittle, "So, will you need my help for anything else?" she asked. The moment the words left her lips though, there was a scream from the far end of the ward. one of the bodies was changing, it was becoming one of them, "Everyone get back right now!" she yelled, rushing forward, to wheel the troolies away from the crazed patient who had suffered a fatal bite wound to the neck the previous day.
as all the medic staff rushed towards Dr. Green and Pvt. Glau she continued to frantically try to shift as many trollies with patients back...
