Were-animal
Your typical werewolf, werebear, and wereswan. Any animal is capable of having a were-animal counterpart.
Power/Ability
Transformation: Were-animals are capable in transforming in two ways. The first of is into the animal itself, such as a wolf. The other is a large beast, like a wolfman. Most versions are capable of transforming parts of their body into the animal.
Heightened Abilities: Even in their human form were-animals are capable of tremendous strength and stamina. On top of that, their senses also reflect that of their animal counterparts. These enhanced abilities increase in their man-beast form and reach their peak in their animal form.
Longevity: Were-animals age at approximately 1/4 of the human rate. They are at their most power at the prime of their life.
Regeneration: Were-animals have an accelerated healing rate and are capable of surviving most wounds.
Magic: Were animals are able to use magic in their human forms. Once transformed, however, any enchantments that they created are disabled.
Weaknesses
Repellents: Were-animals are repelled by mountain ash, mistletoe, and rye.
Poisons: Were-animals are vulnerable to silver/mercury and wolfsbane. Although traditional refers to silver as the weakness, mercury was considered to be silver in a liquid form at this time. Many slayers will use hollow bullets filled with mercury to avoid the risk of being wrong.
Changeling: Changelings are humans that use items to transform. This is usually an enchanted animal pelt, but can also be an amulet or other magical item. However, a changeling can only transform into one form for each item. They do not have an in between form and lack the power of a were-animal.
Shapeshifters: Shapeshifters are capable of changing forms into any animal, including people. They can copy faces and vocal pattern of anyone they please. Shapeshifters are known to be particularly weak to iron and silver, both of which have succeeded in disrupting the transformations. If you take a photo of a shapeshifter, their eyes always reflect the flash.
Skin Walkers: Skin walkers are able to change into any animal. Though they lack some of the abilities of a shapeshifter, such as their ability to change into different human forms, they do not share their weaknesses and appear naturally in photographs.
