Everyone around her seemed to be having a good time, but she in her form fitting blue Chinese dress with pink and sky blue trim didn't buy any of this being a normal dance. Despite her connection to Slade and pooling in money for the school via gambling and such, he seemed a little suspicious when talking about the dance. Some of the chaperones were leaving bit by bit and everyone being as ignorant as they wanted to be didn't bother thinking twice about it. Catching such an intriguing little thing clinched her suspicions might be right that there was more to this dance and there's a strong chance that `extra curricular fun` wasn't full of people making themselves look stupid and free food. Some of the costumes and moves people were setting on the dance floor looked just ridiculous. Formal parties with people of high society is where she belonged...not this crap hole (Despite it looking classy and refined)! Narrowing her eyes behind the mask made of golden wires spiraling into various designs interlacing one another as well as accented by crystal gemstones.
Very much like a traditional mask in terms of design...but made of wire with thin gold ribbons at the ends and tying around her head. Instead of having her hair up in two buns, she had it in one toward the back with two silver, decorative sticks with beads hanging down them. There were some swirls going around them but it almost looked like one of the lines actually cut into it. Standing there deep in thought...kiiiinda wishing around some water in the wine glass...she never trusted fruit punch at gatherings with stupid peasants. Taking a sip of water while trying to observe the area...hey...where the hell was the blonde who people couldn't make stupid jokes about since the mechanic girl had a brain?! Oh right...she was stuck working on a gift for her dad or something and asked her to cover for her until making a `fashionably late` entrance. Bringing the cup away from her lips, that short, rich, Chinese teen felt a hand get placed close to her neck...so what did she do?
"Tch...!" Gritting her teeth for a moment, she quickly grabbed onto the persons arm with both hands and swung the guy over her head and guided the brave fellow's spine into the ground for a painfully fond `HELLO`. "H...huh...hey baby...." BAO YU SAID NO TO THAT PROPOSAL WITH A GLARE AND A SNARL....oh and proceeded to kick the guy in the face with the tip of her pink heels with blue soles. "Stupid peasant! First of all you should know your place in society and a thing called manners! Were you raised in a trash can by roaches?" Sternly snapping out those words, he tried to defend his family with a, "No I w-" which got a nice stomp and grind on his knuckles while continuing to speak in a pissed off tone, "Secondly....don't you dare interrupt me when I'm speaking! Tch...you don't know your place in the world...it's pathetic...little leech."
Tilting her head slightly to the side, her tone was grim and quite serious.... "Lastly...it's Halloween, filthy little commoner....if you were a vampire, I would have killed you in a heart beat. I refuse to be touched or infected by a diseased freak....do you understand?" "MAN...You're crazy!" The stupid fool scampered away and bolted off before she could ram her head onto the back of his head and let out a grunt. "Disgusting little peasant....!" .......this evening was stupid...so...very stupid.
Where were her damn minions to keep her semi-sane when she needed them?! Oh well...for now she reached toward a small pouch holstered on her black clad legs and plucked out a choco-cigar which was pretty much just a hard candy chocolate shaped like a cigar and slid it into her mouth before chewing away. Oh how thankful Ms. Chao was for the existence of candy....it kept her calm enough not to go COMPLETELY insane.

Parties were such fun! No matter what the reasons or outcomes! Who wouldn't want to get out of their daily routine and have a nice dance with a stranger you've never met? Especially when it was so much fun to taunt and tease said person until you can crush them like the dust they really are? And this was a Masquerade dance! One of the best kinds. What better dance than one you can dress up for and wear all sorts of masks. Even better, it was a dance designated to celebrate All Hallow's Eve! Could this day get any better?
Within the vicinity, young Miss Chao had delivered an excellent performance that caught the eye of one the dance's many guests. In the next moment, a boy was standing beside her. He wore an elegant, formal tailcoat; behind it were too small tails underneath a large, lovely red-and-black ribbon tied in a bow. Gold lined the hems of his coat and underneath it, he had on a simple high-collared white shirt, black vest, and black pants. The entire outfit accentuated his short, flaming red hair as it flowed down, almost to his shoulders, and flared out. On top of his head, he wore what his native country would call incredibly stylish and flattering, but here it appeared silly and crude-looking. It was a giant black hat that sat off-kilter on his head. On the bridge of his nose was a pair of black glasses that offered sight to the vibrant green eyes behind them. He leaned backwards, crossing his black, high-heel shoed feet.
"My, my. That was quite the little show." He crossed his arms and tapped his cheek bone with an index finger. Giving her a slow smile and a wink, he said, "Care to give me another?" He raised a beautiful red, black, and gold mask to his face. It only took up half of his features, covering his eyes, and set off the red of his outfit. He used a small stick of plastic, not holding the mask itself, similar to what the Ladies of his home would wear to an event such as this.

A figure walked the dance floor, he stood head and shoulders about his classmates and the grin on his face was fierce and cheerful. There was no self consciousness to it, no hiding it despite the abnormal smile went literally from ear to ear, his gray skin showing him to be quite the separate animal then most people as did his pitch black eyes. He gazed around as inhuman as most could imagine and yet... he felt oddly... fitting in his costume of choice. The blue coat with long tails and golden fringe, the bright white ascot with blue pin, the tan buttoned vest under the coat and the black pants with no sign of shoes or socks. He looked like something stepped out of a certain Disney movie. Heads snapped up as he passed, well separated from his usual casual dress. Usual Mako went for whatever was clean or comfortable he would live life naked if it wasn't for the fact Bao would shoot him in the face or something. Clothing didn't matter that much the way he grinned, the way he leered, some might say he might as well be naked most of the time with the way he moved, acted. Laughing at the world around him most of the time silently. He saw the world different, he let that did not matter truly not matter. He didn't care of money or nobility... but sometimes he did look around himself as if he walked on a higher level of the food chain and his current level of fullness was keeping people alive.
When he looked into the distance his smile widened. The best reason to get out of bed in the morning was in site and she was wearing... well it was making certain important areas of his brain shut down. Deciding it would be a bad thing to walk up to Bao drooling on his shirt he shook his head to spin out the cobwebs and the mental images and downgrading his smile so she didn't think he was about to go for her throat but as he caught sight of her she was talking to someone else and hurting someone else. He shrugged she was popular and as the wanna be suitor ran off another took his place this one seemed more... graceful, debonair. Mako didn't hurry, didn't walk faster but his long legs carried him behind Bao and reaching out grasped one of her hands and spun her around by it so she was facing him and then he dropped to one knee before her and pulling the hand to him laid a gentlemanly kiss on the back of the hand, tracing the very tip of his thumb along one of her palm lines. He wondered if she would notice it was the love line. He didn't think she understood how deep his 'crush' on her went but that was fine. Mako saw it as an investment, he had all the time in the world. Slowly he releashed her hand and stood looking at her.
"My dear Princess truly I am glad I can breath underwater because you just about stole my breath away tonight."
He slowly look to her 'friend'.
"Oh I am sorry to interrupt."
His smile said he wasn't very sorry at all. There was a slight ting of possessiveness to the grin, a predator warning off a fellow. He looked back down to Bao.
"I was hoping this beautiful lotus blossom would honor a mere peasant like me with a dance. What say you little mermaid?"

IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT'S SACRED IN LIFE....that nasty peasant got blood on her pretty shoes....she'd have to throw them away later for sure! Chewing away at the choco-cigar in her mouth to mellow out....on the outside she looked mildly irritated but on the inside? This girl was furious about it all...it was disgusting to have blood containing who-knows-what to be revealed under a microscope. Speaking of red...someone on the taller side with what appeared to be fond of such a color approached her and...winked...and...smiled...? Wait...what? Did he want money? Clearly this was a feminine male...but he wasn't trying to swoon her out of her bank account...instead complimenting what she just did.
Strange...normally people flipped out about her using corporal punishment...slightly quirking a brow, she didn't take too long to process it all let alone dwell on it. He seemed to be of high society...someone she should know more about but didn't. In fact, all she knew is that he was an exchange student and that was about it. The fashion he sported was quite interesting and even though some may disagree, she couldn't help but think it complimented one another and went well with his features pulling it off. "Stick with me long enough and you'll have an encore better than that little display. I'm Bao Yu of the Chao family. Paranormal investigator and occasionally, hall monitor...I choose to live a far from boring life." Bringing her hand up to her chin, speaking those words like a true business woman...just about to say more...up until a claw-like hand taking her very own. OH CRAP OH CRAP! WHAT IF IT WAS A WEREWOLF?! About to turn the tables...something felt fondly familiar about it...and it was enough for her to be caught off guard long enough for a spin toward the individual who took that business woman by the hand. Within that momentary spin, she let out a barely audible squeak of surprise since being blind sided in any form wasn't what one may call a common occurrence to her.
Staring at the sharkman right hand man and body guard of hers quirking a brow and looking a tad bit surprised as he dropped down on one knee to deliver a kiss upon the back of her hand. Though the next thing combine with that was slight tint of pink to tint her cheeks since she could feel that his thumb was in fact tracing the love line upon her palm. That...that had to be coincidence...yeah...coincidence....definitely coincidence. A little on the speechless side, he was the one body guard of hers who didn't bother wanting a paycheck from her and...wasn't quite sure what to think of it. Friendship wasn't a commonly used word in her world but maybe that had to change? Either way, when her hand was released...she actually felt a strange twinge of...she didn't know but her hand dropped to its side and rested lightly on her hip. Lightly gnawing on the choco-cigar to keep herself a bit stable...she felt like her emotions were going a little out of whack again in a really unfamiliar way.
Tilting her head up enough to give him proper eye contact...it....was times like these she wished she was taller...seven feet tall and she was just this shrimp in comparison! OH AND FOR CRYING OUT LOUD THAT PICK UP LINE...it...made her heart do a little giddy prance even though on the outside she had this slightly confused yet still serious look on her face. One thing was sure, her composure lightened the hell up and didn't seem like such a rich bitch. IN HER BRAIN...there was a blushing little chibi of herself with its hands on its cheeks looking over to another chibi of herself looking like a mafia girl. The mafia looking one SHORYUKEN'd its giddy counter part being like `OH FOR THE LOVE OF MY BANK ACCOUNT. BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT!`. About to say something in regards to the pick up line, it seemed like he was taking a moment to regard the fellow who approached her after a stupid commoner beat down.
SURE he said sorry for interrupting but with the time she's known him...she figured out that smile insinuated otherwise. On the verge of being snarky about that statement, he...did that whole metaphoric sweeping her off her feet thing once again that almost seemed like a hobby for the creature. He...wanted to dance with her? WHAT WOULD IT DO TO HER SOCIAL RANKING?! More importantly...what would her dad think about it all and how would he react when he caught wind of it all? WELL...not a single rat's ass was given about those things at this time. Good ol' Captain Mako had done his job whenever he was around and didn't once ask for money so the least she could do was humor him this evening.
Plus...it would get her into the crowd and allow her to see if there were any suspicious individuals who needed to be dealt with right away. It would look less awkward actually dancing to see if anything actually needed her attention on the dance floor. Besides...in a way she wanted to have at least one dance...so all the pros outweighed the cons! "Captain Mako, you work for me and no longer considered as an insect of society. If anyone says otherwise, they will be made an example of." Despite a slight sternness to her tone, there was in fact politeness and even a strange sense of care laced in her words. Keeping the choco-cigar at the corner of her mouth, not letting it interfere with her speech, she couldn't help but add on an elegantly spoken, "In fact...I'll honor you with a dance this evening..."
Glancing on over to the foreign exchange student of origins she wanted to unravel, she kept up a politely professional composure and attitude... "Would you excuse us for a moment?" Obviously, she was raised right to not only introduce herself early on, but also make sure it was alright with her crimson haired acquaintance that she'd have a dance. Even she knew it was rude to completely disregard someone with a sense of class!

(I hope someone got my reference T-T I find it very weird to even be roleplaying young Grell; that short hair!!! 0.o Ah, well, it's still fun ) Grell certainly believed her that there would be much more entertainment following the girl, and that made him smirk slightly. It was very rare for him to find any sort of fun these days. For about half a decade, now, all he's been doing is studying at the Shinigami Dispatch Society. When they had wanted someone to take a look at this place, he'd snatched up the opportunity, eager to get out of the stiff and formalness that is being taught how to be a Grim Reaper. Even Grell had to admit, though, that the higher-ups could be quite devious; they had perfectly assimilated him into this school. It's very hard to question the motives of a person when the old ways have been forgotten. No one even reveres Grim Reapers anymore. How Grell wanted to be a part of that olden time... He was taken by surprise a bit when the shark man had arrived. He didn't even have enough time to introduce himself to his new friend. Oohhh, but he didn't mind at all when he got a good look at the marvelous creature! Cold, black eyes; it was obvious the man was warning Grell off of the woman. All it did, however, was send shivers down his spine! Grell gave him one of his own smiles, showing all of his own shark-like teeth. "It's not very healthy to apologize when you don't really mean it, darling." He exuded danger at that moment. His hand drifted down to hover over the place where he concealed his intern's Death Scythe. Puny sickle of a thing that it was, it was still a Death Scythe and it could cut through anything, even another shinigami. No matter how handsome Grell found this creature to be, he wasn't afraid to show exactly what he was capable of. Bao Yu of the Chao family asked him if he would excuse them for a dance and the red intern leaned in close to say his thoughts, still giving Captain Mako a once over... maybe a twice over. "He is quite the catch, isn't he? I'm jealous." Grell gave his new friend a sly smile at that last bit. Jealous though he may be, he knew proper manners. He wasn't raised in the alleyways of London, after all... or the waterways, with another glance at Mako. Grell, acting more dramatically than necessary, as usual, put a hand to his forehead as if he was swooning and sighed. "If we really must part ways for the evening..."He returned his gaze to Miss Chao. "However, I would so very much like that encore you've promised me." Chuckling darkly, he gave her a parting smile, leaving her to dance with her "Romeo."

As he held took Bao's hands Mako looked up to the DJ and nodded. The DJ nodded back a bit nervously remembering Mako's explanation of how he would feel if his dance with Bao was not accompanied with a slow dance. He had explained to him kindly and calmly he just didn't know how upset he would be, what exactly he would do. He might do... anything... considering he had pinned the DJ to the wall and was holding him up in the air with his feet high of the ground while pinning him the DJ took his point. The DJ proclaimed to the crowd as the current song about liking large posteriors and being unable to provide contrary evidence to the fact when they crowd called out he responded while adjusting a pair of pointed sunglasses.
"HEY HEY HEY LADIES AND GENTLEMEN RELAX THE SICK JAMS WILL SPIN UP INTO THE HEAVENS! WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM? But right now I think it is a fine time for a random slooooooooow dance, so come on, grab a partner, take them by the hands and get in cloooosssee. After all it's Halloween the night when the monsters come out to play. It would be a shame to not let that one person know how you feel out on the dance floor."
Mako held the hands of the beauty beyond all possible worlds gently in his own two hands, feeling the warmth of her flowing in her hands, seeing the intensity as he looks her in the eye as be began to dance. He didn't know what he was, didn't know where he came from, a foundling at an orphanage there was so little he knew about himself but looking down at this woman he gave his thanks to whatever god might exist for this moment. Totally worth everything ever as he began to move his feet. His smile was radiant and his steps were quite surprisingly graceful for a being his side as the speakers declared that this was a tale as old as time. He wasn't listening to the lyrics though he was too busy listening to a chorus of angels in his own head.
"Bao."
He said her name to get her attention, he name, not one of a thousand nicknames but her actual name. He looked at her happily.
"This might be the happiest moment of the happiest time of my life. My life since I met you has been nothing but wonderful, and this the most wonderful moment of a thousand lovely moments just being with you. Just being around you makes life worth living, and this... would make even the fires of hell worth it."
He smiled as he pulled a bit on her hands pulling her closer as he stooped a bit to get his face closer to hers.
"Money has never mattered to me, just a way of keeping score after all, material possessions are immaterial, but emotions, certain ones... strong ones... are oh so important. More valuable then gold."
He dipped Bao, leaning over her, his face inches from her's.
"Do you... know what I am trying to say. Or shall I spell it out for you in letters carved into the walls with my teeth."

Kazumi sighed to herself as she walked in to the ball room she normally would have stayed in the dorms working. However she had been told by her father "that there are times one needs to let their hair down. "
So she had dressed nicely for her, she was wearing a long dress her long blonde hair worn loose and wearing a cats face mask. She sighed to herself as she moved to a corner where a nice unobtrusive table was sitting.
She smiled to herself a nice table that practically called, "come sit here, out of the way." She made her way over to the table and sat down with a sigh. She pulled out a small pda or data pad of some kind and began writing inside of it.
Every once in a while she would look up to see what was going on then turn her attention back to the pda. She did this for a few minutes, before deciding it would be best to start reading a book. The data pad changed and she continued reading a book, after a few button presses on the touchscreen.
One part of her was calling out to be frivolous and dance among the students, another part was her being shy and called for her to stay put and enjoy her book. She let out a soft "tch" of annoyance she hatted being of two minds at times, she had difficulty making decisions sometimes or least wise over complicating them.

(FATEY-KINS. You are awesome. I just want you to know this xD your Grell is amazing thus far and I can tell you....I can agree big time on YOUNG Grell being awkward to portray. Doin' great there though, champ!) Being a detective of some sort with the way she was a paranormal investigator, she didn't just shrug off the young man's teeth. It reminded her plenty of Mako's own....but a bit different. Observing this and keeping it in mind, she definitely clinched how he wasn't a normal foreign student. There was a supernatural sort of air about him and definitely origins....that much she could piece together in a short amount of time. Not to mention he was clearly sharp and that when she did communicate with him again, she'd have to be careful about what words she used. The crimson gentleman wasn't to be taken lightly at all since the wrong wording could lead her toward some unwanted issues. A good business woman knew to avoid unnecessary formalities.
Wanting to fish out some facts about his background to see how much she could gather in hopes of successfully having more proof to show her father that it'd be good for her to have her own agency...it was obvious for her that this dance thing held a different sort of goal for her right hand man. Bao Yu was here out of obligation, not fun. Life was all about business and partnerships connecting to that business, not so much personal relations. Obviously, her right hand man and one of her body guards that wasn't only good for being a meat shield didn't have his thoughts on anything else than getting a chance to dance with her. Oh well...she'd have to keep sharp for the both of them, it was good that at times like these she was so used to watching her own back since she was certain most of the individuals she'd hire would leave her for dead if the threat was bad enough. It happened before and she wouldn't doubt it happening again. Before they left the scarlet haired fellow, he seemed almost sinister....it'd be best to gear that in a way that wasn't dangerous for either Mako or herself.
He did hint off a little jealousy not too long ago...so for all she knew that encore she promised was going to involve her possibly fighting the boy himself....she hoped not since she'd rather build an affiliation rather than an enemy. Though it wasn't a top priority in her thoughts, it held enough importance for her to be prepared just in case. After fending off mobs on her own before captain of the swim team over here holding her hands entered the picture, not to mention death scares, she wasn't about to drop her guard completely. Nodding once with a professionally polite smile back that was quite casual, she gave off a sort of air that was like a true lady in the line of business. Though the whole `catch` thing didn't settle in her brain as a romantic sense like he probably meant. It was more settled in her brain as `you got yourself a good partner` to which her brain was like `yup` all casual like. However....as they parted ways and she was guided on over to the dance floor....her brain couldn't help but let the gears click on into place.
She familiarized herself with the school dance's agenda prior to the event to make sure it was as predictable as possible so the smallest off set would be caught right away. Did.....Mako do something to change the schedule when she wasn't looking?! It was certainly a good trait, one she needed to help her goals...but she actually looked just a tad bit puzzled while listening to the DJ after her right hand man gave him a nod. Blinking a couple of times, she noticed how he just seemed to be so...happy. Sure he was generally in a good mood...click click went the gears as it dawned on her how much happier he was when she grumpily agreed to a day off being spent with him rather than brushing up on how to be better at business. A slight blush invaded her cheeks once more and gnawed lightly on the choco cigar trying to keep calm and level headed. Averting her eyes to the side toward some blonde girl she could have sworn she recognized as a somewhat loner student sitting all alone at a table for a moment...er...save for the fact there was a cat mask on the student's face.
The pig empire heiress' brain was starting to panic a bit on the list of painstakingly obvious hints she dumbed down and at times shrugged off as something simplistic. This....was....not....normal...! No one actually wanted to be her real friend aside from Phin and that quirky weirdo Zilla....but...that...that was a VERY different story. They were friends in a way that felt like the family care she wished she had from her mother and father. Her right hand man though....it was something incredibly out of her norm when she ACTUALLY thought about it rather than playing the ignorance is bliss card. The music was starting up and she instinctively turned her attention back to the sharkman since being someone who danced at dinner parties remembered it was proper to focus on the dance partner of the moment. Another dance routine...she tried to sell herself it was just that and this was obligation, trying to ignore the mental cogs clicking away about their bond.
With care and a touch of grace, she followed along with his steps all in tune as to not fumble or screw up. However...with her peripherals, she was monitoring everyone else that slipped into view and trying to pick up on anything out of the norm. From where she was things looked fairly normal...casual...at least for now. Thought her focus was shot to oblivion when he said the first portion of her name. Being so used to all those nicknames he made for her, she blinked a couple of times out of slight shock. Princess, little mermaid, lotus blossom, etc. etc....those were names she was used to him calling her....aaaand CLICK went another cog! That metaphorical hamster wasn't being lazy as usual oh no no no it was doing its job much better it seemed.
Wondering what was wrong, she let out a curiously coated, "Yes?" Indicating he had her full focus. Did...did he catch onto something going on that she missed?! Or...or was it something else? Gently chewing away at the choco-cigar to keep and maintain her cool, she listened intently wondering what he was trying to get her attention over. Hopefully it wasn't anything bad...he at least seemed to be in a good mood at the moment. Maybe it was something fabulous that he just had to share about some movie he wanted to watch and heard oh so much about? With a slightly darker tint to her blush as she listened, her eyes widened slightly and she felt her heart freak out a little bit and wondered if she was going to have a heart attack.
It...sounded like he was genuinely happy to be there on the dance floor...as if his words meant her really did enjoy her company. Bao Yu wasn't stupid, she knew a lot of people could barely stand her and only stuck around out of sheer obligation. There was a significant difference though, he sounded like he....uh....what was that word....no matter how many cogs were clicking there was one word far more scarce than friendship in her life. But before she could try to figure out just HOW delighted he was to not only spend moments of his life around her, but also share a dance with one another....she was tugged in rather close and let out a very soft squeak and chomped down the remains of her chococigar out of some sort of shock. MAN WAS HE BEING BOLDER THAN USUAL! Gulping down the hard candy remains while being stooped over with their faces being MUCH closer than usual. OUT OF HER NORM! SO VERY OUT OF HER NORM!
Lightly tightening her grip on his hands and staring up at his pitch black eyes, she actually felt a bit on the speechless side cause quite frankly....this....was so not something she mentally prepared herself for. Over and over in her head, she tried telling herself that it was damn near impossible for anyone to actually see beyond her rich heritage and hope to take advantage of that one day. Yet...his words had a nature which threatened....no...demanded acknowledgement in being a true exception to the rule. Claims of money not mattering and merely being a score system...what her dad taught her to be deep rooted fir her views struggled to deny this...money was important...very important....it kept her happy...or...no...it kept her sane and stopped her from being alone. Those words conflicting with what she learned....what was she supposed to think about all this? He wasn't the sort to lie...that...that was just his truth....it didn't necessarily have to be her truth...right? Money and material possessions...not as important as certain emotions...?
Was...was she getting a power of friendship lecture? Is that what was going on? No....something deep down within her told her it was different than a normal friendship. What the hello operator was going on?! This....confused the pig adoring girl quite a bit and she was truly boggled about it all, but now their faces were inches away. OH HELL NO HELL NO HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO! Her eyes widened slightly for a moment trying to figure out if this was some scheme to ram a knife in her back like a small portion of her feared since it was just not normal for someone to actually want to be around her for her bratty self.
If there was one thing that was deep seeded with incredibly strong roots wrapping around her, it was that father dearest made it a point that someone like her was practically destined to live a life where there was only money and people just wanted that. That no one could see how she was actually a person and not just a piggy bank. Those lessons weren't simple to ignore for her, it was a big part of why she was so bitter and cruel to the world around her. Namely `peasants` and `commoners`, they had the most desire for money and to get their mitts on it or the things it could give them. He wanted to know if she understood what he was trying to say or if he had to literally spell it out...she just felt so confused. So very confused to the point where her composure was cracking and her primary mission was getting a little foggy. Though she was sure to hold him gently while actually trusting him enough to not panic and get out of that leaned back dance step...
"Captain Mako...how many....how many times do you need me to tell you that without money this world doesn't function properly? Certain emotions being more important...tch...you know as well as I do that my life revolves strictly around business....partnerships linked to business at most..." Forcing out those words so much that there was a hint of uncertainty lingering about in her tone which made a good attempt at being stern. "A-anyway...I'm flattered you enjoy my company...but what is there to spell out? Captain Mako, you can tell me with your words rather than causing me trouble by messing with school property, you're my right hand man and bodyguard after all. You should know better than the disposable chaff I've hired that we can actually talk, I'm listening to you." The part of her that wanted to give him the low down on why she accepted to fill in for the top hall monitor was momentarily hushed for some reason.
Even though she sounded a little nervous about what he may say, she did what she could to keep a professional tone of voice and share one of those slight smiles that might make Phin feel like she was having a heart attack and Zilla wanna throw confetti and cry delightful tears of joy that she could do something other than scowl and look like she was going to kill something sooner rather than not. This whole evening was starting to seem more and more abnormal to her....in...a....not so horrible way? Yeah...that was the best way her confused self could think it.
{HOLY. CRAPOLY. THIS....turned out way longer than I thought it would....like....woah. Hope it's ok...I'm....like...insanely tired X___X;;;; good lordeh....}

(*Blush* Thanks. I'm constantly worrying that I'm not portraying him as best I can. I've only recently taken up the mantle of Grell; having been Ciel for much longer XD)
The Grim-Reaper-to-be watched the sharkman take the girl out to the dance floor. They spun and danced to a very melodic piece. Grell sighed dejectedly, watching them. The human world could be so abhorrent at times. Even here; bodies crowding each other, everyone competing for space. One student chewed gum noisily as another would spit in a potted plant. How disgusting...
Grell leaned against the table holding refreshments and brought a cup to his lips, sipping idly and continuing to watch the dancers. Most of them couldn't even dance, at least not in Grell's eyes. He scanned the room, looking for potential company. He fully intended to visit Bao Yu again. He was very curious as to what other talents she held. She also had a certain grace and elegance about her that no one else here had.
"Woe is me, to have no partner for the evening." Grell spoke softly to himself, not wanting to be overheard by unwanted company. He was second guessing coming to this world. He hadn't been here for long and he already had doubts about the humans he's met. Most were sniveling pigs trying to find the worst, or in their own eyes best, way possible to live. The red shinigami was growing quite bored.

....Why was she here? The phrase 'Halloween dance' was enough to inflict horrible dread in the former vengeance demon who was now trapped in the body of some silly teenage human girl. The last thing she wanted to do was to socialize with these people who she was supposed to call her 'classmates' - the very thought of doing so was unappealing under any circumstances, let alone circumstances that involved the majority of the school being flocked into one (admittedly very large) room, and wearing a variety of ridiculous costumes at that.
So the question remained, why was she here? Well...for one thing. While the idea of a costume party would be enough to make Anya scoff disdainfully on her best day, she did have to admit that the school had put a rather...interesting twist on this one. A masquerade ball? At least that would keep everyone looking something close to classy. And while Anya wouldn't have known how to even begin to put together a costume for a regular Halloween event, a masquerade theme was something she could handle - she'd certainly attended her fair share of such events in the eighteenth century.Masquerade balls were ideal hunting grounds for vengeance demons; full of frivolous married couples who...weren't quite as happy as they pretended to be - and having their identities hidden by the masks they wore produced a very curious sense of invulnerability in humans. Like they could say anything and get away with it, since no one knew who they were - of course, they didn't know that identities didn't really matter to a vengeance demon. A vengeance demon could grant a wish to a complete stranger, no problem.
...Ah, the good old days. But this, Anya reminded herself, was not the eighteenth century. This was a modern day school event, and she barely had enough power left to work the most basic of spells let alone grant any wishes. And what was even worse...now she had all of these girly teenager feelings to contend with! The ridiculous kind that made her want to pretty herself up and do stupid, pointless things like experiencing a school dance. How very degrading. She'd been feared once - but at the moment, the only person who even 'feared' her remotely was some anxious-looking underclassmen boy who she'd snarled at a few moments ago for asking her to dance.
Sulking a little (but what else was new?) the ex-demon made her way across the ballroom. Her dress was not unlike one she'd worn to the party of some fancy English nobleman (he'd had his wife arrested on false charges so he could sweep up some little tramp instead - in accordance with his then-very-angry wife's wishes, Anya had strung him up by his ankles and left him to burn right along with the estate she'd just set on fire - but that was a DELIGHTFUL story for another time!). The dress now, however, had been modified to look a bit more...modern; a little sleeker and less blatantly Victorian than what it'd once been, but it was still long and flowing, and pure white in color - with the exception of the black sash she wore around her waist. Her slightly shimmering mask was black as well, simple yet elegant with a black rose pinned to the side. The effect? Well...it might have been rather lovely, if Anya'd been able to wipe that scowl off her face.
But scowl and all, the newly human girl slunk along the sidelines of the dance floor, careful to keep her distance from the couple that occupied it nearby - Bao Yu, was that the girl's name? And the guy she was dancing with...whatever, Anya didn't bother keeping track of who was who around here. Not like any of these humans mattered anyway. And while they danced gracefully, the way the guy was looking at the girl - with such blatant adoration - made the ex-demon recoil. What was wrong with them? Didn't they know that love resulted in nothing but pain and bloodshed? Well...she wouldn't be the one to tell them, at any rate. They'd find out soon enough. Wandering over to the refreshments table, she stopped short next to a boy with astoundingly bright red hair and poured herself a glass of punch. She paused. Sniffed it tentatively. Then addressed the stranger beside her.
"Please tell me someone spiked this already," From anyone else the statement might have been meant as a joke, but true to form Anya's voice was deadpan, blunt, and completely serious. She blinked. "Because I don't think I'll be able to make it through the night without some alcoholic assistance. If you keep talking to yourself people are going to think you're crazy, by the way." Anya threw that last comment in there as casually as if she'd just commented on the weather, because it hadn't escaped her notice that he'd been muttering under his breath just before she'd walked up. Not that she really cared whether he was crazy or not. That was his business. She let her light brown gaze wander as she absent-mindedly waited for an answer, eventually focusing on a blonde girl in a cat mask who was sitting at a table by herself not too far away.
Now...what was she doing at a dance when she seemed to have absolutely no intention of dancing? Anya's eyes narrowed slightly in confusion. She swore, she'd never understand the human world or any of its customs....as evidenced by the fact that anyone else would have known that it wasn't polite to stare, and yet Anya just kept right on glaring(not that she really meant to; 'glaring' was just the grumpy ex-demon's usual expression nowadays) at the girl sitting on the sidelines.

Like the majority of the students which attented such a school, Galahad trotted to the building in which this Halloween Party would be held. He wasn't anything out of the ordinary, just a siberian husky puppy dressed up as Batman for his costume ready to have a good time. Well, he still had his small, school backpack on, but that was just him being stubborn. The dog's tongue was hanging out, Galahad panting all the while he was walking. Nobody seemed to give him any attention, but when it came down to it he just got here. Stopping in his tracks, the puppy waited until someone opened the door for him, due to his lack of opposable thumbs. That, and he was rather small, as a puppy normally should be. Once a student had opened the door for him, Galahad gladly walked on through. It was a normal Halloween Party, the puppy about to-
-WHY WAS THERE A DOG ATTENDING SCHOOL?! For some strange reason that question didn't appear to be in anyone's mind, aside from some confused looks the first day of school. Nobody had seemed to CARE at all about what Galahad did. He didn't cause any sorts of trouble around campus, and attended his classes on time. Granted, tests and the like took the puppy a little longer, since he had to resort to holding his writing utensil in his mouth. With practice makes perfect however, and at one point he had little to no issues making his writing legible, and not take forever to write. Galahad started off his party night be walking around on the sidelines, observing the other students and what they were doing. Obviously, his stupidly happy expression may turn off some people.
The students dancing on the dance floor appeared to be doing some obscene styles of dance, not that the puppy could really dance due to his anatomy. Perhaps there would be some sort of costume contest, one where a prize could be won! Oh the joy he would feel during his puppy years for this would be his first ever Halloween! Especially since soon he could have his owner and fellow student, Tomonari, take him out to trick or treat. Hopefully people would be giving out doggy treats, otherwise it would've been a waste. But that was a thought to be left alone for now, since the Halloween Party was a more important matter to attend to! With that, Galahad began to look for people he could interact with tonight.
The problem was, how was here that he knew? Obviously he recognized some of the students, although he didn't interact with them so much. Not that socializing as a puppy was too difficult, able to making the girls squeal in utter delight at this most adorable puppy. Maybe Galahad could make even more people happy by looking at the costume he was wearing! He had Tomonari put it on him, rather, the puppy jumped for joy when he saw this costume in a store, and as such, got what he wanted. Shaking his body for a moment, he eyed by the punch bowl, a water bowl fit for a puppy to drink from! Of course, it was probably just going to be colored water, but that didn't stop Galahad from begining to trot over there.

Mako lowered his head a fraction of an inch and sighed out his teeth. Slowly he shook his head back and forth while shutting his eyes. Pulling himself and as a byproduct lifting Bao back to a standing position. Reaching up he patted her on the head. His emotions were clear... but she drove him to do things sometimes... he swore if he ever met her father he would be dead before he hit the ground. He shook his head again and the looked at her smiling a bit sadder but a determination pouring off him. He pointed at her.
"I warned you my dear I would spell it out for you..."
He walked away to a nearby wall and held out his arms looking at the wall, each finger spread out and his claws very apparent. He looked up at the wall and grinned. He knew... sort of... what he was doing. Looking over his shoulder to make sure Bao was watching Mako winked slowly.
"... I know Slade will make me Fix this... but it is so worth it."
He held out one hand... and dragged the claws down the wall shreding the paint, moving quickly to the side he repeated the gesture only this time at the end of the line he put a shorter horizontal line at the end of the line going to the right. Then he put both claws into the wall more to the right taking a step in that direction and dragged them both down in semicircles opposite of each other meeting up down below, another step and plunging his fingertips into the walls three feet apart he dragged them down and towards each other till they met. One more step over he clawed a line and three shorter ones at the top, middle and bottom of the line all clawed to the right. Then he started to get fancy.
People began to read it outloud.
I. L. O. V. E.
They were surprised at the... interesting but seldom vandelistic sharkman as he attacked the wall ripping into it with glee.
Y. O. U.
They began to mutter and whisper wondering, was it really happening, here, now? Could he be finally saying it? He began to move faster, he couldn't hear anything, only the sound of the claws scraping.

C. H. A. O.
Finishing Mako spun and turned in place to look at her. Slowly he walked towards her as a wolf moves in on the lamb.
"I always have. From the very moment you walked up to me and offered me a job and a life here at this school. Since you met me at the docks and convinced Principle Slade to sign me up. Since you first looked at me as a person, not as a creature or a tool, you saw me as useful, not as a freak, or a monster. You see past pools of black and see worth... and in turn I saw through you... and found something I love. I love you, I love working for you because it allows me to be near you, I can't imagine not being near you. I always want to be near you."
He walked till he was with in arms reached and fell to one knee before her. He grabbed one of her hands and kissed the back of it before he raised to his feet once more. He looked at her and knew she might very well kill him for this but it was worth it.
"Well my queen? What do you say?"

What the hell was all this emotional stuff for? Looking a little confused while he seemed to go from happy to sad, she quickly reviewed her words and didn't think anything that crawled out of her mouth toward him was offensive or even rude. In fact....she was very polite to him...there was no reason she could figure out for him to be saddened! Quirking a brow as she got pat on the head, she narrowed her eyes a bit feeling just a little patronized...then he was...pointing at her?! For most of her life, she was used to being the one in charge of her peers and NOT getting pointed at then told of some warning after giving a command to not do something. Who...the...hell...did he think he was?! No one in their right mind ignored her orders when it came to her potentially getting in trouble!
Bao Yu's hired hands all found how that it was best to run away or be a meat shield rather than outright do the opposite of what she requested in times like these. Then he was going up to a wall and flashing off his claws about to do something crazy: Ignoring her orders of not vandalizing. Big no no...didn't matter how much she cared, she wasn't going to take this! As far as she was concerned, she was his higher up, his boss, someone to be respected! From what she gathered, he was going to ignore her and just vandalize the hell out of this school's wall for whatever damn reason! "Didn't you hear me...?!" Hissing out those words that were politely venomous, as though she was holding back her usual rage while clenching her fists....normally she would have given far more notice to the familiar and peculiar faces...fuzzy animals included....but she had her business styled relationship with Slade to worry about.
Cracking her knuckles a bit as she walked on after him....she was done trying to be nice...he was going to learn his place whether he wanted to or not. Step after step...she wasn't the sort to stand around like an idiot and wait for a disaster to happen. Even as the wall carving went on hurting her ears as she snapped out, "I told you not to vandalize the damn place!" Sure, he was a `top of the food chain` predator, but she was a borderline fearless female who had no qualms about beating the tar out of a paranormal creature and...well...she sure as hell didn't have any qualms about beating some sense into one of her employees. He persisted....ignoring her....only causing her rage to gradually climb up. Stopping in her tracks...she...noticed there was something being written on the wall....frozen as she stared up and her eyes widened...some of her stupid, filthy, not as rich as her peers reading along.
Feeling her hands drop to their sides and the corner of her mouth lightly twitching a bit.....this....had to be a joke. A bad joke....a horrible joke. The ridiculously rich Chinese girl's cheeks got flushed by a dark red blush as the rest of the words got spelled out and...people....people were talking in hushed tones. Some even looking at her as though she was the prime slice of gossip. Shooting a glare right at the nearest student whispering on and on about it....when they persisted, she clenched her hand into a fist and snarled flashing off her gritted pearly whites. No one....no one talked smack about her and got away with it! Bringing up her fist on the verge of punching that person's lights out, the chattery person quickly squeaked out `HE'SWRITINGYOURNAME!` like their words were on fast forward. Quickly turning back to the vandalized wall, her jaw dropped and she couldn't believe what he wrote.....who what when where why HUH?!
Closing her mouth, she frowned and let out a surprisingly annoyed squeak while that blush remained on her usually pale face. Not even sure what the hell to think of it all, she was starting to reassure herself with her father's teachings about how in the end that people would only want something out of being associated with her and they'd say just about anything to get her to believe what he said was a lie. Snapping out of it, the shorter girl who normally wore platform boots to be at a `normal` height glared up at the sharkman approaching her and was dead set on making an example of him. All those sweet words...they seemed genuine enough but she knew she told him at least once before that all she had was business in her life and that's that. They were business partners and he wasn't about to get away with potentially ruining her alliance with Slade. No...no he was not even if it was really flattering and sweet! Slowly walking toward him as he spoke with her eyes narrowed into a deadly glare, she began reaching toward her hair ornament but then her hand was grabbed?!
It was all just a bunch of pretty words...pretty words to trick her that's all, she might of had friends but even that was an iffy subject, a bit grey. Love though, like bloody hell anyone could genuinely love someone like her, that much was drilled into her skull. Though...he called her his queen...? That didn't mellow down her CHINESE rage, when it came to disobedience to such a degree...there was no room to talk it out. Frowning and letting out a barely audible squeak upon the kiss on her hand before speaking. "Why in the name of wealthy business owners didn't you just say that before!? I said not to vandalize and you did the exact opposite of my wishes. NOW I have one hell of a huge mess to clean up with my name on it...LITERALLY! If you want to be at my side then know your damn place!"
Jerking her hand away not giving a crap if his claws nicked her skin, simultaneously reached up toward her hair ornaments to expose the secrets they held. Though she froze in place when a scream rang from the back where the lights were being operated from. "Damn it! I'll deal with you later! Stay here while I investigate, Captain Mako! Don't you dare disobey me again either!" Snapping her hair ornaments into a soft click, she pulled at the ends to reveal the blessed, silver blades concealed within and rushed off as the lights began to flicker. Something was amiss just as she suspected...and she was going to pummel it to a pulp and grind the remains beneath the soles of her feet.
Bolting on by the odd student dog...which...she was interested on researching more and more due to how it MUST have something special to actually attend, the familiar faces of two acquaintances with blonde locks and bloody red tendrils with interesting fashion then of course one cat masked student. Weaving through the slightly panicking crowd, smacking a couple people she hadn't given two craps about out of her war path. Corporal punishment on a possibly lovestruck employee was a little lower on her list of things to give a damn about than something or worse, multiple things with half a mind to kill off her peers. Well not if she could get to this whatever it was first! The knives in her hands, she sliced her way through the curtains and whipped around the corner. Even at the grotesque sight of blood splatter and flesh accented by organs and limbs here and there, she pressed on moving forward. Up until she stopped in her tracks seeing a strange creature grinning madly in the darkness staring at a heart in its hands.
It...was unlike anything else she had seen...almost shocked and freaked out to the core. This thing looked vaguely familiar....adjusting her knives a bit...she was trying to click together what she was dealing with but the problem is the creature kept shaded by the shadows for the most part. A build unlike a werecreature or vampire. Slicing down toward the creatures arm, the damn thing moved before she could land so much as a scratch on it. Taking a quick sidestep herself, she took a leap forward since it looked as though there was an opening. About to ram a blessed blade between the ribs, even though her chances were probably smaller that a peasant's wallet, she had to at least try something. Though that chance was shot when the creature whisked out of the way chuckling before bringing a fist down on the short, spunky girl's back bringing her down and a knee right to her stomach. Widening her eyes in realization of who it could be...she...really couldn't believe it.
This couldn't possibly...but...why? Coughing up a bit of blood, gritting her teeth as she staggered back with blood trickling down the corner of her mouth while the creature looked to her with a smile and its pitch yellow eyes narrowed still chuckling at the girl with peculiar colored locks. Everything happened so fast and she felt trapped in a haze. Twirling one of the knives while letting out a heavy sigh, the creature tilted its head to the side as though to silently taunt Ms. Chao. Holding up its clawed hand with the heart resting in its palm, chuckling while bringing its fingers back and forth like it was telling her to give it another go. Flinging one of her blades, she didn't have the best aim right now....her condition was pretty crappy to put it nicely and only gave a deep cut on her target's shoulder. That....pissed the creature off as its chuckle darkened while grasping onto the piggy empire heiress' throat drawing a bit of blood in the process of dragging her into the shadows causing both of them to fade into the darkness leaving behind a trail of blood droplets telling a visual story of struggle with restricted movement and one of her knives coated in blood.
To think this was only the start of madness going down in this school tonight! Lights flickering, casting plenty of shadows since some of them no longer worked due to the circuitry being messed with. Some people thought nothing of the whole thing thinking the screams and soft, devilishly amused laughter from before was just part of the theme. Hell, it was a bit on the difficult side to see...but there were certainly demonic creatures lurking about. The question was when were they going to strike? For now they were laying low in the shadows here and there....waiting for a good time to emerge and strike their targets. Whatever was lurking in the shadows just so happened to be safe and sound at the moment in their little hiding place.
{EXIT FOR BAO YU FOR NEEOW! Da da da duuuuuun! Oh and yes...I will be throwing in our little issues of the evening in soon >D so post away <3 !}

Grell had continued to watch the pair dance. This Mako fellow truly was a very... princely type. Bao Yu looked a bit... flustered. The girl was interesting to watch. Sighing deeply, he sipped more of his refreshment. Suddenly, he sensed an odd presence in his company. Looking to the girl now pouring herself a drink, the Death God could sense what she really was. A demon. Curious, he wouldn't think a demon brave enough to venture to such a pathetic place as this. Even the red shinigami himself could barely stand these walls. Of course, it may not entirely be willingness that brought her here, much like himself. Her essence was disguised well... Grell chuckled in response to the girl's question. "I'm sorry, my dear, but no such luck. You didn't possibly expect a school-sponsored dance to allow alcoholic beverages, did you?" He smiled widely at Anya, choosing to ignore her crazy-comment.
The blood-red Grim Reaper noticed a curious-looking dog trotting over to them. He was in no mood for a mongrel of any kind this evening. He had no one to dance with, his entertainment had been snatched away from him before it had even began, and a demon was asking him for alcohol. When Grell had decided to attend this event, he had not pictured his night playing out like this. Would it kill the humans to have just a tad more showmanship? Grell chuckled to himself at his own unspoken-joke.
Grell's attention snapped back to Captain Mako as he began to carve letters into the wall. Truly, what a prince. A to-die-for Romeo. Too bad he had possessive issues and only seemed to have eyes for Bao Yu. He hadn't even complimented Grell before sweeping her away! He did fall very short on manners, if you asked Grell. The more he did it the more Bao Yu seemed... what was the phrase? Sick to her stomach, possibly. Grell had had enough of this dance, absolutely nothing was going on and all the dancers were abhorrent! The red shinigami set his cup on the table, still over half full, and started for the door. As he reached for the handle to let himself out, he heard a most beauteous scream.
Grell turned back to the dance, trying to locate the origins of the shriek. Being what he was, he tended to have better senses than your average human. It took him a moment but he soon found the direction the scream had come from. Just as Grell moved to track the noise, panicked party-goers rushed to his location. The Grim Reaper intern soon found himself in a tough spot. He was weaving through a panicky crowd of disgusting humans, moving in the completely opposite direction as they were. He pushed and shoved, getting shoved back hard, before finally giving up and leaping over the press of bodies to a more open space. Some students stood in shock, others kept dancing as if nothing were happening, and all the rest pressed for the exit. It was maddening. Soon the panic would just begin to build on itself; people would forget or not know why they are fleeing, but flee in fear they would.
Grell quickly counted all the heads he could put names to and found one missing: Bao Yu. Hearing the sounds of struggling, not far off, the shinigami intern pulled his sickle from its resting place and dashed to the shredded curtains. He peered through them and found a passageway of sorts, short though it was. He entered and took a sharp turn where Ms. Chao had. The sight he was met with was grotesque, to say the least, but there was a look of bliss on the red intern's face. There was red everywhere. Blood had splattered almost everything in sight. There was a body on the floor. Well, to say it was still a body was a bit... incorrect. Red was such a pretty, pretty color. And the way the blood looked on the walls was incredible. Grell imagined himself in heaven, he thought it so beautiful. Then, he suddenly remembered why he was here. Bending to the floor, Grell dipped his gloved hand in some of the blood. He put his hand to his nose and inhaled deeply. It was still fresh, much more so than the... rest of it.
"H~n!" Grell smiled wickedly, eyes wide. Perhaps... there would be some fun this evening. He rose and the hand holding his intern's sickle fell to his side. He was ready to leave this room.
(That is probably the most I've ever written in an RP outside of an app or a lame attempt at a fanfic. 0.0)

Post by kazumi on Nov 4, 2011 0:46:11 GMT -5
Kazumi had mostly kept reading through the whole incident with mako and bao. She knew the rumors about the two top students in the dorms, it made her sick truth be told. She continued to read her curious data pad that had stretched to a clear transparent screen that could be read from the back if someone had been so inclined to do so. She hadn't even been surprised by the dog in a batman costume, she knew there were weirder things than that in the school. Hell some people said the librarian was a vampire well that was the rumor, that might be why most people avoided the place. In addition to all the other strange rumors about the place so an intelligent dog was hardly a serious or surprising matter.
She kept her attention on the book up until the lights started to flicker. She had ignored it as some sort of electrical problem it wasn't unheard of anyways. However when the hellish shriek and screaming panic had come she stood up collapsed the strange pad and pulled out a set of small kunai knives and began to look around.
she closed her eyes and refocused her mind her vision changed it became sharper outlining individual people and enhancing what available light there was. She walked over to the blood, it was highlighted in her mind to be distinct.
She could smell the metallic scent, she remembered it well after she had nearly died after a bomb went off in her families apartment. She keeled down surprised her eyes following the trail. "What the hell is going on?" She asked aloud her brain going from lazy ignorance to keen investigative and alert. "What the hell's with all the blood, Whats going on?" She added when her brain had managed to catch up with her curiosity, and now came the feeling of panic and terror. She tried not to let it sink in deeply however she had the feeling a cool head would be needed.
She took stock around her to see if anybody was missing and more importantly anybody had seen anything, or for that mater had an idea of what was going on. She had been reading a book away from everybody and hadn't got a clue from where she had been siting.
Now that she was closer she was wearing a sleeveless black dress and over the dress a trenchoat, that was suffy dusty, and black. It looked like it had been worn and well taken care of but still a it was a trench coat, kazumi threw off the cat mask so she could actually see better, the stupid eyes weren't right and blocked her vision.
If someone were to look at them they were strange, almost mechanical rather than normal.
