Kaly allowed her arms to loosen as Narret pulled back, letting the child slide back on to the comfortable bed. When the girl squeaked and began apologizing, however, the Angel was caught by surprise. What was the poor girl sorry for?? Realizing that little Narret thought she had done something bad, she quickly shook her head and dabbed away at the tear trails that were covering the young girl's cheeks.
"No no, sweetie... Don't apologize," She said, giving her that motherly smile of hers, "You've nothing to be sorry or ashamed for... You've done nothing wrong, little one. Here..." Kaly reached over to the bed, picking up the glass of milk and offering it to her, "Have some more milk - I've always found that it helped me whenever I felt sad as a child..."

The small child took the glass with gusto, still quite famished from before. She downed the cool creamy beverage swiftly, she then set the glass back from where Kaly had gotten it from with a small thank you escaping her in a cute little squeak. But then she kinda looked sad for a moment. "S-s-s-s-sorry...... I j-j-j-j-just c-c-c-can't r-r-r-really h-h-h-help m-m-m-myself f-f-f-from s-s-s-saying s-s-sorry" She poked her fingers together meekly as she looked to the side sadly. "T-t-t-the b-b-bad p-p-people....... T-t-t-they h-h-h-hurt m-me w-w-when I c-c-cried......." She then flinched suddenly, as if expecting to be hit.
"S-s-s-s-sorry....... I-i-i-i-i'm s-s-s-s-still n-n-n-new t-t-t-t-to b-b-being o-outside...... A-a-a-and t-t-t-the b-b-b-bad p-p-people....... T-t-t-they're a-a-a-a-all I r-r-r-really k-k-know......."

Kaly watched her chug the drink down with sad eyes. The poor dear... To go through so much Hell. The Angel took the empty glass from her, placing it back on the table.
"It's alright, sweetheart, I understand," She reassured the child, and leaned forward. Where the girl expected a hit, she instead received a kiss - A light peck on the cheek. Kaly knew her work would be cut out for her with this child, letting her know that everything was alright... That not everyone was going to treat her like these bad people had. It was very similar to how things had been with Lynn.
Gods, how she missed Lynn...
Kaly scooped the bowl of tomato soup, which was only about half way done, into her hands and offered it to the child, "Do you think you can feed the rest of this to yourself, Narret?" She asked, her tone patient and warm - Letting her know that it was alright if she couldn't, "There is something else I'd like to make for you to go with it, and if you can I would like to make it now."

Narret simply nodded as she took the bowl from Kaly, letting the simple smell of the soup float up into her tiny nose. She didn't even use the spoon now that the soup had cooled from the little episode she had when Kaly had held her. She simply took the bowl to her lips and began to drink the tasty soup.
She was still quite hungry after all.
In only a few seconds the little girl had drank the entire bowl of tomato soup, setting the bowl aside quietly. It was then a small burp escaped her lips, her face going quite red in embarrassment from the small noise. She simply covered her mouth with one hand as she looked to the side shyly.
Kaly really did have her work cut out for her with Narret

As Narret drank away at her soup, Kaly got up and moved back into the kitchen (take the cup with her, of course). A packet of bread, some cheese, and a little butter were pulled out and soon enough the delightful scent of a cheese sandwich being grilled on the oven was moving through the air. Although whether Narret had noticed or not, Kaly wasn't sure. She was so enraptured by the tomato soup, the Angel wouldn't be surprised if the sandwich went over her head!
"Would you like some more soup?" Kaly offered as she returned to the girl's side, holding the once again refilled milk cup in one hand and a plate of grilled cheese sandwiches in the other. She sat down at the edge of the bed, placing the cup in its usual spot on the small table, and handed her the sandwiches, "Be careful, dear, it's still fairly hot. You might want to blow on it a bit to cool it down a bit before you start eating."

Oh but Narret had noticed the sandwich Kaly was making, the smell of grilled cheese flooding the room and fluttering into her nose. Her little stomach let out another hungry gurgle at the smell of something so good. When Kaly returned with the sandwich, Narret didn't know if she wanted more of the tasty soup. "I g-g-g-g-guess m-m-m-more s-s-s-soup a-a-a-after w-w-w-w-whatever t-t-t-this g-g-g-g-good s-s-smelling t-t-t-thing is i-i-if I s-s-s-still n-n-n-n-need t-t-t-to eat....." She stuttered out, almost drooling now that the source of the good smell was so close to her nose now.
She took Kaly's advice, blowing on the gooey cheese a few times to cool it, before taking one of the sandwich halves in hand and took a small bite. Like before her eyes simply glowed with flavor filled bliss, but this time she also let out another purr-like sound as she quickly took more bites of the grilled cheese. After swallowing, her big eyes just looked at Kaly with a large smile on her face "T-t-this is r-r-r-really g-g-good!" Before she quickly began tearing into the rest of the delicious sandwich.

Kaly giggled as she heard the purr from Narret, beaming as she gobbled up the sandwich. Oh, she would enjoy introducing this girl to new and different foods when she was able to! No doubt she would make a giant meal whenever she got Lynn back... A welcome home feast!
"It's a grilled cheese sandwich," She informed, picking up the empty soup bowl and moving back to the kitchen. She didn't fill it yet, letting the soup remain in the warm pot so it wouldn't get cold as Narret finished up her sandwich, "I'm glad you like it! It's not too difficult to make, either... Perhaps when you're feeling better, I can teach you how to make it?"
While she wouldn't leave the girl alone with an oven for a while, not out of distrust but out of a slight fear that something might go wrong, Kaly hoped that teaching the girl to cook at least one thing would help put her a step in the right direction. Give her something to concentrate on that might give her a feeling of self-confidence in the future... It could work. Kaly hoped.

When offered the chance to learn something, Narret simply beamed. "I'd l-l-love t-t-t-to l-l-learn!" Narret piped up excitedly, before looking a little disheartened. "I g-g-g-guess it's b-b-b-because I d-d-d-don't k-k-know m-m-much....." she poked her fingers together meekly, her eyes drifting to the side to avoid looking at Kaly.
It took a few minutes before Narret could muster up the courage to look at Kaly once again. "I'm s-s-s-sorry I d-d-don't k-k-k-know m-m-m-much...... I'm k-k-k-kinda u-u-u-useless......." The poor child began to tear up. "I g-g-g-guess t-t-that's w-w-w-why t-t-t-the b-b-bad p-p-people w-w-wanted t-t-t-to g-get r-r-rid of m-m-me...... A-a-a-after t-t-they g-g-got e-e-everything t-t-they n-n-needed f-f-f-from w-w-what t-t-they d-d-did......." More tears began to flow from her eyes. "I d-d-didn't m-m-mean t-t-to be u-u-useless! I c-c-c-can't d-d-d-do anything......"

The girl didn't know much, hm? Kaly smiled a little, pouring her own little bowl of tomato soup. "If that's the case, then I can teach you whatever you'd like! So long as I know it as well... And if I don't, well... We can learn together!" She knew she didn't know everything, and had forgotten much of what she learned... But she was willing to learn and re-learn whatever she could to satiate the child's curiousity!
Narret breaking down caught her by surprise, however, and Kaly quickly put the bowl down and rushed to her side. She sat down next to her, one arm moving to rest gently across the girl's shoulders as she listened to her words. She felt as if her heart would constantly being broken by every new thing she learned of little Narret's story... Oh how she wanted to give the bastards who abused this child in every conceivable way a piece of her mind!
And her bloody frying pan!
"Oh sweetie, you're not useless..." She reassured, gently cupping the girl's cheek in her hand and guiding her face to look up into hers, "You're far from useless, and if anyone told you otherwise they were lying through their teeth! So there are things you don't know... That's perfectly alright. It doesn't make you useless, not one tiny bit."

When Kaly reached out to the small child with her hand and words, it didn't seem to have the effect that the angel had hoped to achieve. "B-b-b-but I a-am!" she said half-hysterically, her emotions running wild within her. Pain, confusion, and rejection seemed to be cutting up the poor child and the gods only knew how these emotions affected the angel. "I c-c-can't f-f-find my b-b-brother, I d-d-don't k-k-know w-w-what anything i-is! A-a-and t-t-the bad p-p-people......" The poor girl seemed to curl up slightly as darker memories, ones filled with literal pain flooded her mind. "T-t-they j-j-just u-used me a-a-and t-t-tried t-to t-throw me a-a-a-a-away...... T-t-t-the only r-r-reason t-t-their a-a-after me is b-b-because I e-e-escaped"
The girl scooted away from Kaly slightly, bringing her knees up to her chest. "...... A-a-and t-t-t-they l-l-left s-s-so m-m-m-many l-l-lines...." Narret muttered out, not aware that she was speaking aloud.

Kaly's eyes widened as, instead of being comforted, Narret just broke down even more. Her pulse quickened for a moment with worry, the Angel uncertain for a brief moment on how to comfort her. What if she started making it worse and worse? Still, she had to keep trying. She couldn't give up! " You are not," She said, voice stubborn and insistant as she held Narret all the closer, " You said so yourself - They are bad people. Whatever they've done to you... Whatever they made you think of yourself... It's wrong. You are a sweet, young girl who is far from useless. As for not knowing things... That is easily fixed, Astoreen*. You can be taught - I can teach you anything you wish to know, and more..." As Narret pulled away and curled in on herself, Kaly's brows furrowed. Lines? What did she mean by lines? Scars? .... Did the poor child mean that those 'bad people' gave her scars?? It took the redhead nearly everything to hold back her anger at those bastards yet again as she scooted closer. Once more, her arm was wrapped securely around the delicate child. " I swear, I will never let them near you again, little one. Ever." She whispered a promise, 'sealing' it with a gentle kiss to the girl's temple. The girl was under her protection now, one hundred percent, and Kaly had a feeling that - if she asked him - Deus would help protect the little girl as well. ----
* Astoreen | Proper spelling: A Stóirín | Meaning: 'Oh Little Love'

Narret still didn't react to well to being touched, freezing up for a second when Kaly had enveloped the child. It was like the pale girl was expecting everyone to hurt her. But as the initial tension passed the loving embrace seemed to calm the child. The torrent of emotions were soothed away by such a simple action, one that every child should know but Narret had only experienced now twice.
It took a few minutes before the girls emotions had returned to their calmer although still distraught state. It would take quite some time before all the damage that had been done could be repaired after all. The girl rubbed at her puffy eyes, removing the last of the tears. "T-t-t-thank y-y-you K-kally....." The girl snuggled into the one armed-hug of the angel woman with a small smile. "W-w-whatever t-t-this is...... It f-f-f-feels v-v-very n-nice....." The small child then returned the hug with her tiny arms.

There were no words to express the relief Kaly felt as Narret began relaxing in her arms, slowly calming down. The emotional damage this girl had was extensive, and pained the Angel greatly, but even if it took a hundred years she wouldn't give up on Healing this girl as much as she could. As Narret scooted closer and began reciprocating the hug, Kaly smiled. Her second arm wrapped around the small girl, pulling her just a tad closer as she lowered her head so that the tortured child could rest her head in the crook of her neck should she wish.
"It's called a hug, sweet one," She informed, closing her eyes and letting out a little smile, "You can have one any time you'd like. All you need to is ask..." She giggled softly, "Or just start one yourself with me. I won't mind!"

Narret let out a little content sigh, coming out almost like a purr. "H-h-h-hugs a-a-are n-n-nice...... T-t-t-they're s-s-soft and w-w-warm......" the warm feeling of being loved began to overtake the small child, tears of joy leaking from the corners of her eyes. "W-w-w-why d-d-d-does it f-f-f-feel so g-g-g-good....." the girl choked out, confusion beginning to wash over her as she began to wonder what else the bad people had made her miss, but her emotions suddenly came to a stand-still as fear began to creep at the edges of her mind.
"T-t-the b-b-bad p-p-people aren't t-t-the o-o-only o-ones after m-m-me....." she started out, letting go of Kaly so she could look the angel in the eyes. "T-t-t-there's a m-m-m-monster a-a-a-after m-m-me too......"

When the spike of fear came off the young girl, Kaly was just beginning to relax with her. It caused her to frown a bit, loosening her grip on Narret as she pulled away. The Angel pulled back as well, but only so she could get a better look at the child's face as she spoke.
"A monster?" Kaly's voice was confused, although not disbelieving. It did make her wonder, however, just what kind of creature would be bad enough to be called a monster when those who had caused the damage to the girl were only called bad people. What had this 'monster' done? In an attempt to help and calm her fear, Kaly's hand began gently rubbing Narret's back, "What do you mean by a monster, sweetheart?"
Perhaps she would be able to identify what kind of creature this 'monster' was... And if she was familiar with it, she might also be able to find ways to keep it away from Narret. That is assuming, however, that it was one she knew of - Or would, at the very least, be able to do research on!
