Demon in the Dark (Open)

As they continued to walk along, Deus was intent listening to Kaly explaining. So he was a little shocked when she let out a sudden quick laugh. He gave her an odd look, awaiting her to explain. At first he was confused, coming on to him? What did that even mean. But then Kaly continued to talk, explaining what the clerk had been after. He nodded in understanding as the angel finished explaining.

There was however one problem.

"Oh okay....... Um...... I just have one question......" Deus said as he looked down at Kaly, with the most innocent and confused look ever. "What's sex?" Sadly for poor Deus his parents did not have the chance to give him the old 'birds and the bee's' talk before their untimely demise.

Once again, Kaly almost stumbled. This time, however, when she caught herself she also stopped walking altogether for a brief moment.

"You... Don't know what sex is?" She sounded surprised, but far from judging of the fact that he didn't know. She blinked in confusion, before she began walking once again with one finger rubbing her chin, "Well, sex is when two people pleasure each other in a certain manner... Sometimes, when both parties have the right 'equipment', so to speak, a child can be produced." She chuckled softly, looking up at Deus, "I can explain it better to you once we our destination - We should be almost there now!"

Indeed, there was a decent-looking little motel somewhat ahead of them. Kaly's eyes lit up with relief as she saw it, her feet speeding up just a bit so that they could get there sooner, and she continued to speak, "It's not that difficult, really, but I would do a better job of explaining if I had a pen, paper, and table..."

Deus nodded, in slight understanding. "Oh........" It was however sudden realization dawned upon him. His face suddenly becoming deep red as he tried to speak. "I...... uh......... I think I know what your talking about......." As more thoughts began to process through his head, it almost seemed like steam was coming out of his ears. "And she wanted to do that with......." It was like his face had gotten even redder as he looked at Kaly, before his amber eyes widened and he looked away as quick as lightning. "Oh gods......." Deus muttered, covering most of his face with a metal hand in a attempt to obscure his still heated face.

It took a few moments before the silver haired man had calmed down enough to talk once again. "I..... I knew what it was, I just didn't know what it was called........" Deus said, his face still quite red, and his amber eyes stealing glances at Kaly now and again like a hormonal teenager. "If you walk around during the spring time........ Well lets just say the animals gave a free visual lesson...." He muttered out quickly, trying to focus on the destination ahead of them.

It seemed like Kaly wouldn't have to bring out the diagrams! Deus's face lit up with recognition and embarrassment as he realized what the Angel had met, and what the Clerk had wished to do with him. She couldn't help it - A few giggles bubbled out of her. Her hand instantly went up to staunch the flow, although she wasn't able to stop the grin from popping on to her face or the light blush that accompanied it.

"Yes, they do that!" She said, a few more chuckles escaping, "They're not the only ones affected by Spring of course... But they are the least private with it." That's not to say that if you didn't watch where you were going in certain areas of the world across the veil during Springtime you wouldn't find a couple rolling about behind a random bush, tree, lake, or... Anything, really. Kaly couldn't count the times she accidentally found two or more people together...

It got really awkward. Which was why she stayed inside more often than not during Spring.

Kaly cleared her throat, her cheeks getting all the redder as she began to trek up the steps to the second floor of the motel. "Watch your head," She warned this time, rifling through her pockets as she searched for the key, "The room number is 210, just so you know!"

The giant man simply nodded at Kaly's words, not wanting a repeat performance of what had happened at the corner store. Although he was still having a hard time keeping his thoughts focused, his flush red face clear evidence of it. For his thoughts were on the fluttery feelings that welled up within him, now more then ever with the proximity that he shared with Kaly. It also did not help that as he thought about Kaly, he thought about how that woman from the store had basically tried to get in his pants.

He needed to think about something else quick.

"SO!" Deus said suddenly, more to shift his mind away from that train track of thoughts. "What exactly did you pick up?" He asked curiously, taking a little look in the bags that he carried for Kaly. Awaiting the chance to enter the building, he was a little bowed lower so that he would actually fit inside this time.

"Well, there wasn't much of anything I could get, really..." She answered, "Convenience stores don't have the best things. But I did manage to get two frozen pizzas we can heat up!" She smiled sheepishly back over at him as they reached the door labelled as 210, "I wish I could make you something better, but well... They don't have much of anything at these stores. I did, however, manage to get us some drinks and a tub of ice cream for when we're done with dinner!"

Kaly's fingers fumbled with the keys for a few seconds before she finally managed to unlock the door. Upon turning the lights on, one would notice that the room was a bit on the small side - There was but one bed resting against the wall, a little wooden table with two wooden chairs off to the side, a small closet, one nightstand next to the bed, and a little kitchen with an oven, a microwave, and a single fridge with a freezer attached to it. The Angel hesitated for a second, realizing a conundrum as she moved into the kitchen.

"... I'm sorry that it's a bit small," She said sheepishly, setting the keys down on a counter, "I didn't expect to have anyone else but perhaps Lynn in here if I could find her...." And having been blessed with the gift of Water instead of Earth, Kaly didn't really have easy access to many different gemstones that would give her enough money to last a lifetime!

well the menu didn't sound so bad, better then digging for roots after all. Ducking low to enter the now opened door, he took a quick glance about the small abode. It was quite homey and comfy despite it's size. Although for the taller man it wasn't exactly the best, there was a reason he preferred the outdoors.

They had no ceiling.

A roof above his head made it a little awkward to stand, having to both bow his head and slouch just to have an inch between him and the ceiling. He also felt a little bad that he couldn't take off his metal boots for entering her room, but he did also need them to stay in control of his abilities.

"It's alright Kaly, It's not really that small...... I'm just too big...." He gave the angel a small apologetic smile as he came in further towards the table and chairs. He took a seat in one of them so he could straiten his neck out. "It has been a while since I've been inside a building anyways......."

Kaly frowned as she took the bags from Deus so she could set everything up. The oven was already pre-heating, and two pam-covered pans were resting on the counter. The last thing she wanted was for her friend to feel bad about being too big for the room!

"This room is just made for one person is all..." She said, pulling the pizzas out of the boxes and setting them on the pans. She wouldn't put them in the oven yet - It wasn't warm enough! - But she wanted them to be ready for when she did. She turned back towards Deus, resting her elbows on the second counter that partially closed the kitchen off as she waited.

"I'm sorry if this is awkward and uncomfortable for you..." She said, also looking apologetic, "I could try and find a bigger room, but I don't think they make higher ceilings than this in this establishment..."

"Again Kaly, it's alright......" Deus said with a small wave. "I've been this tall since I was sixteen" Which was true, he had been over eight feet tall since his escape from being used as a damn power-source for those bastards.

Another time to focus on that maybe the giant thought quickly.

"I doubt you would find a room with a roof over eight feet Kaly, besides with this room being only for one, I doubt me being here for more then a visit was planned right?" He asked as he looked back to the small room. There was no way he was going to fit on the bed, then again he wouldn't even try. He was the guest and a new friend of Kaly's he wasn't about to take the luxury of a bed away from the sweet angel.

"I guess it's why I got so used to sleeping outside under and in tree's, no roof to hit my face on....." The half demon joked with a small laugh. "That and well....... There's just something about the smell of the earth and tree's that is so soothing......"

"Since you were sixteen??" Kaly's brows rose in surprise. He'd been over eight feet since such a young age? That was amazing, and certainly something she hadn't witnessed before... Her chin was placed into one of her palms as she continued to listen to his words, letting out a soft smile as he finished.

"Aye, nothing quite beats sleepin' outside in the open air..." She agreed, "But there's also something very nice about sleepin' in a nice, warm bed during a cold winter evening!" With the curtains open to let in the light of stars and moon, as well as the sight of a white-covered landscape... Or not even that, but to simply rest in front of a fireplace (Despite her reservations with fire, she can manage to force herself to relax around fireplaces) with a warm mug of cocoa, a book, and a fuzzy blanket! "Nothin' quite like winter in general, really..."

Kaly was snapped out of her thoughts by a soft ding! She jumped a bit, pushing herself off the counter as she turned around and placed the pizzas in the now-ready oven, "Wonderful! The pizzas should be ready within half an hour or so!"

A small smile was given to Kaly at the notion of there being food soon. "Sounds good....." Deus muttered, before looking to the side with a small blush once again. Those damn fluttery feelings were coming back again, and he was actually starting to get sick on not knowing what or why he was feeling like this.

He had to know, and Kaly probably knew. Not only was she better experienced then him she was also an empath.

"Kaly...... I could use your help actually...... Even though me giving you a hand really didn't turn up any results....." The tall man looking away from the wall and locking eyes with Kaly. "This whole night, as great as it's been there's just one thing really bothering me......" He then let out a small frustrated sigh, looking away from Kaly to his metal hand as he spoke. Not really having the nerve to say all of this directly to Kaly's face. "I keep getting these strange feelings around you...... I look in your eyes or hear your voice I feel nice but it's really freaking me out because I don't know what this feeling is, or even why I'm feeling it! All it's doing is leaving me really confused....." He looked up from his hand as he looked at the angel, the very one that made him feel this way. "Could you tell me what these feelings are and why I'm feeling them?"

"You offered to help me find my daughter, and stayed by my side through the night - That's enough for me to owe you more than I can repay," Kaly admonished, turning around as soon as the oven was closed. Her heart was jumping once more in her chest, a response to the feelings he felt... And what she had a feeling his question would be. She swallowed, but hid her nerves as she let him finish.

"Ah...." She smiled a little as he finished, blushing deeply and looking down. Her hand was playing with the silver chain of a necklace that went down underneath her shirt, one she hadn't paid much attention to before then, "I... Feel a bit arrogant saying this.... But you're attracted to me," She informed, not looking back up at him as her cheeks darkened all the more, "In a Romantic sense..." And perhaps more, but that would be something for him to discover on his own when he was ready. She cleared her throat.

"I... Admit to feeling the same," She continued, "It's odd, since we've met only recently, but.... Well, I've grown fond of you."

"Attracted...... In a romantic sense......." Deus shook his head a few times. "You mean love..... You mean to tell me I'm in love with you....." Deus said as he placed both of his hands against either side of his head. "This can't be happening...... I mean we just met and......." He let out a long and rather frustrated sigh. "I mean you're an angel, your such a nice person and then there's me........ No matter what you say even as nice of a guy as I am....... You can't really change what I am and what's just under the surface...... I'm dangerous......" One of the hands fell away, leaving only one hand to support his head as he spoke. "And not just because of what I am, but my powers too! If I lose these I could probably explode and take half the city with me........" With his free hand he gave the boot of the same side a quick rap on the side the explain what he meant. "Not to mention the bastards that locked me up for two years....." He muttered just loud enough for Kaly to hear, but without realizing he had said it aloud.

"I really shouldn't love you...... I'm a monster and a danger........ But at the same time I just want to love you, hold you and never let go!" He then slapped his face with the palm of his metal hand, looking like a rather painful facepalm. "So this is love huh....... A very confusing feeling......." He muttered, his palm still on his face.

"I am hesitant to use the word love..." Kaly admitted, moving to the seat that rested next to him, "While it is far from the truth, it is also a strong and almost finalizing word, all things depending. And you're right, we have just met... But, you know, there are many who would say that doesn't matter." She just knew he was young, and was afraid to pull him into something he might not want to keep for as long as she would...

She fell silent as he continued to speak, her eyes growing sad. At one point during his speech, if one could call it that, she had reached forward to take one of his metal-encased hands and hold it gently between her own.

"It's not what you are that's important," She said once he finished, "It's who you are. What you can do doesn't matter. It's what you do that does. You're dangerous, but so is everyone else to a degree. Even I am dangerous, believe it or not," She let out a faint smile, knowing that she looked far from dangerous, "But the fact that you're dangerous is not what should hinder this. It's whether or not we are both willing to face it together. And to be perfectly honest... I am."

If she was willing to take a woman who may or may not go berserk on her under her wing as a daughter, she was sure as hell willing to take this man into her heart as far as he was willing to go.

Then she heard what he murmured.

"Wait, what?" She frowned, brows knitting together, "Who had you locked up for two years??"

He gave Kaly a small thank you at her words, making him feel so much less confused and even much less hateful of what he was. Although, he was still a little hesitant of telling Kaly everything just yet.

Until she asked her question.

"Oh....... I said that bit aloud didn't I........" Deus looked off to the side at the wall. As he let out a sigh he continued. "I don't know who these people are, or what they really want......." Deus started, his voice beginning to fill with hate and underlining rage. "All I know is, their the ones that started everything, and took everything from me......" The giant took a deep calming breath, the darker emotions fading away from him.

"I'd really rather not talk about it...... Not yet at least......"
